George Washington University has been one of the 40 sites participating in The Women’s Health Initiative (WHI), the large federally funded national study that has focused on strategies for preventing heart disease, breast and colorectal cancer and fracture in postmenopausal women. At GW, 3,600 women joined the study, in one of 3 clinical trials or an observational study.
